The new debate: XBox One or PS4

I was in no rush to get an Xbox One or PS4 at either of their launches. They didn’t have any games I wanted to play. That seems like a pretty compelling reason not to buy them.

But then I had an epiphany. As you may be able to tell from the blog posts that come around every August, I’m a huge Madden fan.  I am going to buy Madden in August. I’m pretty sure that they will have a current gen version of Madden come out for the 360 and the PS3 but if they do, they’re not going to be the focus of EA. They’re going to be a side project. That means I’m going to want to have a next gen console in August. Since they’re not going on sale before then, I’m not really losing out on anything by picking one up before then.

So that means I need to figure out which direction to go. If a game that’s coming out strikes my interest, I might buy either one.

So far, the only games that have interested me so far have been Titanfall, even though I don’t usually get into first person shooters and the Xbox fitness. These both push me toward the Xbox One, but what my friends will be getting for Madden could sway me as well. It’s really the only multiplayer game I play.

My wife and I have loved the Kinect, so I have no problem paying the extra $100 for the Kinect included in the Xbox One.

Until I find that one game that grabs me, I’ll be without a next gen console, but a single game could do it for me.

What games have you interested in either of the consoles?
