Madden Week 4 Ultimate Team

I’ve completed the week’s fantasy challenges.   The challenges are nice as when you complete them, you get a nice 92+ player.  They’re intended to complete the fantasy collection but I’m not sure who is getting all those cards, so for me it’s just a nice card.

For the coin up challenge, I chose to go with Eli Manning over LeShawn McCoy as I think he will be more consistent scoring touchdowns.

For those of you who may not know, to get the firs Coin-Up card, you must complete the 2 solo challenges.  If you want Eli instead of McCoy, there is a collection that only requires the McCoy card.   You complete it and you get Eli as a “reward”.

I’m going to try to save up for a legendary pack instead of buying all-pro packs as I haven’t gotten any stellar cards there yet.

You can find some good deals on contract cards on the auction so look there first before buying them from the store.

Madden 13 Ultimate Team week 2

I was able to get through all of the week 2 fantasy challenges anthe Coin-Up challenges for week 3.

I was glad to see the the week 1 fantasy challenges were still available to play.  Obviously the Coin-Up challenges were not sinc you already know who was more valuable.

For the week 3 Coin-Up challenge I chose Tom Brady over Joe Flacco.  But then again I chose Megatron last week and that was wrong.  I like that there’s a mini fantasy game built into choosing which player you want.

The Demeco Ryans reward card for the fantasy challenges is pretty nice.  I also got the Hakeem Nicks card in a pack, my first fantasy card.

Getting packs is going at a much slower pace this year without the collections being worth as much but the contract cards being for so much longer means it’s easier to maintain your team, so I think I’m okay with it on the whole.  My team is at a 91 so I haven’t been able to do all the legendary solo challenges yet but I am having a blast.

Madden Ultimate Team 13 Fantasy and Coin-Up Solo Challenges

So after week 1, they have added some new solo challenges to Madden Ultimate Team.

They have made a solo challenge for each of their fantasy players from week 1.  You have to do them in order.  If you complete them all, you get a fantasy David Akers card which is needed to complete the Week 1 Fantasy Collection.  If you complete that, it will unlock the final fantasy solo challenge for which you will get a Robert Griffen III card.

I assume that these challenges will only be available this week so I have been trying to complete them all.  I don’t buy nearly enough packs to complete the fantasy collection(let alone having gotten any of the cards) so I’m not trying for that, but having different challenges to do in nice.

Another solo challenge that they added is the Coin-up challenge.  Before week 1, they added a Coin-Up challenge where if you completed it, you got an 85 Victor Cruz card.  There was also a collection for just this card which would be worth 500 + 1000*the number of TDs he caught in his week 1 game, which turned out to be 0.  This week, they’ve changed it up a bit.  You play 2 games, against the 49ers and the Lions.  If you do, you get an 85 Vernon Davis card.  You can put this in a collection which will effectively trade it for an 85 Calvin Johnson Jr. card.  Same deal applies with touchdowns next week, so you basically get to bet who will have more touchdowns.  Nice little twist.  I went with Megatron, I also have him on my fantasy team.

In other Ultimate Team news, MUT13.com has put up their card database.  Another site did this last year which was invaluable for knowing what collection(s) the cards you got in packs were in.  Collections aren’t as awesome this year, so maybe the benefit won’t be as great but it’s still a great resource.  They’re also attempting to catalog the auction values of each card.  I’m not sure how this will deal with XBOX vs PS3 but it should still help.

Madden Ultimate Team 13: Solo Challenges

I’ve got to say that the Solo Challenges in Madden Ultimate Team 13 make it much more playable for me.

Last year, playing online against friends had a huge coin penalty and playing online against random people never appealed to me.  So that left playing random games against CPU controlled teams.  Ultimate team was fun enough to keep me doing it, but it did get stale.  Also, when playing like that, it would behoove you to run up the score against a crap team, as you got more coins for doing so.

This year I can work to complete the solo challenges as my games rather than playing random teams.  They give me set coin rewards so I can actually play football and you can get some fun card rewards.  You can get specific players who are good and you can get key cards and key packs which are needed to complete collections for yourself or sell them on the auction house.

I’ve also started trying to sell some gold cards on the auction house for 2k each to see how well they sell but nothing so far.  Last year the collections drove the market for those cards but it looks like that is no longer the case.  That does mean you can pick up some nice 80s players for cheap to round out your team too.

Another tip is to look for the 48 contract cards on the auction house instead of buying the 32 from the store, I got some for pretty cheap.
