Star Wars Legion Map Based Campaign with 3D Printable Tiles!

IMG_20190418_121840So I was looking for a campaign to play for Star Wars Legion at our store and since the crew is a little more casual, leagues and tournaments weren’t the ideal fit.

Remembering back to the old Mighty Empires days, I was inspired to create a map we could fight over and that would be a cool center piece for the store.


Here are the tiles I designed for the campaign:


I made some basic rules which we’ll be testing and updating.

Each player will start with one outer tile of their choice, order chosen appropriately. Late comers can play their way onto the board.

Players can play a game for a tile that meets one of the following criteria:

  • Is on the edge of the board
  • Is adjacent to a tile controlled by each player
  • Is controlled by one player, is adjacent to a tile controlled by the other player, and there are no other eligible tiles to be fought over between the two players

Before playing, players may get advantages from their locations connecting to the battle or disadvantages from trying to control too much territory.

The tile being fought over contributes to the battle if it is controlled by a player. Any tile that is controlled by a player and connected to the battle by a contiguous line of tiles controlled by that player also contributes. A contributing tile gives an advantage based on what type of tile it is.

  • Island: Before deployment, shift one piece of terrain by the width of 1 objective token in any direction.
  • City: For the purposes of choosing Red/Blue player, your army counts as being 5 points fewer than it actually is.
  • Mountains: Before deployment but after deciding on deployment zones, the player may add 1 barricade to the battlefield.
  • Plains: Before deployment, choose one corps unit to gain Scout 1. This effect cannot be stacked on a single unit.

In order to make taking over the whole map more of a challenge, there will be an in game penalty if a play controls way more tiles than their opponent. If the difference in the number of tiles controlled by the two players is greater than 2 then the player who controls more tiles plays with 5 fewer maximum points per tile more than 2. So if one player controls 6 tiles and the other 2 then the player with 6 will play with 10 fewer points.

If a player would like to just play a normal game for any reason, just play a normal game.
